The Jökulsárlón Glacier Lagoon gives a feeling of incredible tranquillity as the 1000-1500-year-old ice silently drifts into the lake and slowly melts away. The lagoon covers 18 square kilometres and reaches more than 248 metres at its deepest point. Movie buffs may recognise the lagoon from scenes in Batman Begins, Tomb Raider and two James Bond movies.
The tour also stops at the gorgeous Seljalandsfoss and Skógafoss waterfalls. The iconic Skógafoss is a dramatic waterfall and one of the biggest in the country, as it stands 82 feet high and has a drop-off of nearly 200 feet! Meanwhile, Seljalandsfoss is a beautiful waterfall with a thin stream plunging metres below. What makes Seljalandsfoss unique is the ability to walk behind the falls on a footpath. It’s a memorable experience, but it can get a little wet. It’s recommended to bring either a waterproof jacket along if you want to walk behind it.
Close to Jökulsárlón Glacier Lagoon is the Diamond Beach, where you can see chunks of ice that sometimes wash ashore and are scattered about like giant diamonds against a backdrop of black sand. The scene is spectacular any time of year but genuinely magical when the sun shines (Icebergs on the Diamond beach are weather dependent and therefore not guaranteed sightings)
We will also stop at Freysnes for dinner and Vík í Mýrdal where you can see the Reynisdrangar rock formations.

To enhance your experience, consider adding a glacier lagoon boat ride to this tour (subject to availability and weather conditions). You can book it through our Jökulsárlón Glacial Lagoon & Boat Tour (Tour Code: SRE113).
Iceland’s winter beauty comes with icy paths—be safe! We recommend using crampons, available for example at BSÍ bus station, for secure footing. Enjoy the adventure responsibly!
